A few pieces of news from around the area

Firstly, please be aware that some people are receiving fake emails purporting to be from Methodist Ministers.

Please do not respond to such emails and don't click on any links.

In regard to this, Rev Helen Penfold has asked me to let you know that she is fine and has not sent an email to anyone saying otherwise.

There is a new Easter book available from Mark Bennet from the District

"I wanted you to be one of the first to know that I have a new collection of

poems, prayers and even a psalm coming out shortly. Packed with

photographs and professionally printed, this one is a bit of a whopper –

56 pages instead of my usual 40. Why? Well, it’s the subject: Easter!

The book is called ‘RISEN! From an Upper Room to an Empty Tomb’,

and explores the major events of Holy Week, including Palm Sunday,

Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Day.

...

As this book is almost half as big again as my others, I’m afraid the

printing price has had to increase a bit, too. At £5 a copy, though, I will

be able to make a contribution of at least 50p for each one sold to the

National Literacy Trust, supporting their work with children and young

people around reading and writing on your behalf. "

If you would like more information or to see the whole email, please get in contact and we can forward it on to you.

The World Day of Prayer service for the Ilkeston area which was to be at United Church of All Saints, Stanley Common, has been cancelled for 2021. There will be no service in Darley Dale this year. There will be a service in Matlock this year. Two representatives will be going from each local church. If anyone would like to make a donation for the offering but doesn't want to do that online they should contact their Church Stewards.
